Quested Monitoring

The collaboration between Greenpeace and Joe Leach of London’s Cowshed Studio has created a unique recording and mixing space at the Worthy Farm festival site, with Quested’s flagship V3110 self-powered monitor at the heart of this incredible venture, delivering a pristine 1000W of clean, Reference-Monitoring clout.

Quested’s Ollie Shortland was on hand to help with set-up.  “I was amazed at the whole building, and bearing in mind it was built in only a few days, surprised just how good the control room sounds!”

“As soon as we plugged in the V3110’s, they sounded fantastic from the word go.  I set them up horizontally, by rotating the baffle on the speakers and mounted them on the STV-3 stands I had brought down.  Joe played a few of his rough mixes from his London studio, and they sounded really good.

“I thought we would have to use the V3110s trim controls to fine-tune them for the room,” says Ollie, “but we set them up flat and they delivered just perfectly.”

“When Joe spoke to me about it, it sounded a lot of fun” comments Quested’s Guy Lewis, “and I was really pleased to be involved, especially with the V3110 which is finding more and more friends around the world.  When he was at London’s Morgan Studios, Roger Quested recorded some of the acts that are actually performing over the weekend – Paul Simon, Linda Lewis, Melanie – and tells a story about Melanie’s svengali manager saying to Roger that when they made it big, Roger would be looked after for doing such a great job.  So he asked for a Jaguar, which never turned up.  I hope she comes in to record….”

With a raised wooden frame and hay bale walls, the studio will act as a resource for unsigned artists to use for their own recording opportunities.  The performance and recording area will be available to performers visiting the festival, both to play and to participate in song-writing workshops.  Musicians will be invited to use a networking space to gather line-ups to audition under the Raising Voices theme.  From these auditions and performances, seven acts a day will be chosen by public vote to record in the studio with a professional producer, world-class vintage instruments and state-of-the-art studio monitoring.
